The Walt Disney Co. announced it will buy Tapulous; the developer of the game called Tap Tap Revenge that is quite popular on the iPhone. This is Disney’s first step into mobile gaming market.
“This is a strategic step and prove the seriousness of our entering the global handset market,” said Disney Interactive Media Group President Steve Wadsworth, as quoted by Yahoo News.
The main focus of Disney, continued Wadsworth, intended to make games for the iPhone and iPad and different mobile platforms. Currently Tapulous has had 30 million users in the Apple platform, such as Tap Tap Revenge with various versions, differentiated by supporting music artists, like Metallica, Coldplay, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. A new game show, Riddim Ribbon also featured the Black Eyed Peas. After this acquisition, Tapulous will continue to occupy their offices in Palo Alto. In addition to these areas are in the early phase of development into the technology community in the vicinity of San Francisco, Disney is also rumored to have a Pixar Animation Studios in nearby Emeryville. Unfortunately, Disney did not provide detailed information on the acquisition price. Previously, Disney also had success making their own mobile application with the results of millions of downloads, such as Alice in Wonderland Lite and JellyCar2.
